Employer Nomination Scheme Visa

(subclass 186)

The employer nomination subclass 186 visa allows skilled workers to permanently work and live in Australia. You can apply for employer nomination subclass 186 Melbourne, both onshore and offshore as an applicant.

You can bring your family members with you, and live, study and work in Australia without restriction. Moreover, you also become eligible to apply for Australian citizenship later on. To apply for this, you need the sponsorship of an eligible business.

Based on your eligibility and factors such as occupation and professional experience, there are 3 different streams of this visa under which you can apply:

  1. Direct Entry stream:

    • To apply for employer nomination scheme visa subclass 186 direct entry stream, your occupation should be on the skilled occupations list.

    • You also need to have a minimum of 3 years of experience, unless you have an exemption for the same.

    • You should also clear the skill assessment test, unless exempt.

  2. Labour Agreement stream:

    • The employer nomination scheme subclass 186 labour agreement stream is used by the nominating business after the employer has negotiated and entered into an agreement with the government

    • This is used by a business operating in any of the designated areas in Australia that are adversely impacted by the shortage of skilled labourers.

    • The contract is valid for 3 years and allows the businesses to hire skilled migrants from other countries.

    • If your employer nominates you under this stream, you are required to apply within 6 months of receiving the nomination.

  3. Temporary Residence Transition stream:

    • You can apply for this category of visa if you are a holder of a subclass 482 visa.

    • You should have worked for the same employer for 2 years and your nomination for this visa should be for the same occupation that was in your 482 visas.

    • The job must be a full-time role and be available for the next 2 years.

    • Another requirement is that your employer should have followed the 482 visa training requirements that are meant to address the skill shortage by training workers from the Australian labour market.
